Make BBQ Ice Cream Treats With @BlueBunnyIC + Free Printables

It's summer and around our house, that means lots of ice cream eating.  Did you know last Sunday was National Ice Cream Day? And I just found out, July is National Ice Cream Month! A whole month!

Make BBQ Ice Cream Treats With @BlueBunnyIC

Because of my bad sweet tooth, finding new ways to combine my favorite foods is an artform.  I've seen doughnuts sandwiched with ice cream and cookies sandwiched with ice cream to resemble hamburgers.  I decided with a little help from Blue Bunny ice cream to combine those two ideas to celebrate the best things about summer,  hamburgers and hot dogs!

I know...your teeth are hurting from all the sweetness.  Like I said, bad sweet tooth.  I blame my mother.  Also for my mint chocolate chip ice cream obsession.

Head into Walmart for all your summer snacking needs...and plenty of ice cream.  While there, I picked up cinnamon bun doughnuts and doughnut twists, frosting, kiwi fruit and licorice to create my hamburgers and hot dogs.

I found my mini grill at my favorite international store; how could I resist not using it to show off our creations?

Science party treat bags

Does your child love all things science? If you're throwing a Scientist party for your little Einstein, this month's Whisker Graphics Design Team project is right up your alley!  And by alley, I mean easy.

I used jumbo quins to mimic molecules...

Science party treat bag supplies

You'll need:

jumbo quins (I purchased mine at Target but you can find them in the cake decorating section of your favorite box store)
black marker
hot glue gun
ruler
  1. Place your choice of quins on the bag to where it looks good to you.
  2. Remove each quin and draw a small dot in its place.
  3. Draw lines to connect the dots.  Drawing tip: in molecule models, atoms branch off from each other, not completely connected.  For example, on the 'Jaden' bag, I wouldn't draw a line to connect the red quins to each other.
  4. Hot glue the quins to the bag.
  5. Fill with treats of your choice.

If you are looking for the napkins, they are part of the super cute Fundamental Science Party Collection available online or in store at The Land Of Nod

Makers + Shakers - Meet The Confetti Bar

A couple of years ago, over on Seattle Mamas, I started a series interviewing local powerhouses who started with an idea and turned it into a crazy reality.

It was so popular, I thought to myself, 'hey self, you should do the same thing, except this time, you should stalk some more of  your favorite bloggers from all over'. So, I created the Makers + Shakers Series: 8 Creatives You Should Follow.

The series was so popular, I decided to continue it with 8 more creatives!

Playing with confetti is the best job ever...so you know everyday is a party when you're Jessica Serra Huizenga, Chief Confetti Thrower & Expert Confetti Mixologist of The Confetti Bar.

The Confetti Bar is an online, boutique confetti shop bringing you a selection of colorful products for use in craft projects, home d├ęcor, and of course, any celebration!  I have been a huge fan of Jessica and her confetti from the beginning; she was the reason behind my fabulous DIY confetti bar for my Party With A Purpose fundraiser.

Come learn all about Jessica and what makes her tick...

Please tell our readers a little bit about who Jessica is.
I’m 25. Married to the bestest guy ever. I have great friends and an extremely supportive family. I like to craft & make things. I’m a sucker for glitter or anything sparkly. I love color. I believe in magic and finding happiness.

The Confetti Bar; confetti candle

I'm a huge fan of your work...I mean it's confetti!! What inspired you to start you business in all things sparkly fabulousness?
Confetti is such a symbol for celebration - as soon as you see or hear it you instantly think “ happy party!” so I really wanted to make that feeling stand out as something special and unique, thus I started crafting my own little bits of happy to share with the world!

The Confetti Bar; confetti hi heels

Besides designing and creating confetti and glitter concoctions, working with amazing creatives on fabulous projects, opening a new space, and working with your husband, Clifford, your Director of Digital Awesomeness, how do you balance everything? Or do you?
While I certainly have my moments and my days where I feel a bit overwhelmed by it all, I honestly just listen to myself and keep it all in perspective. Based on how I’m feeling and what needs to get done, I can prioritize based on my own needs so that I end up being more productive in the end. It’s not about working harder, it’s about working smarter.

Tuesday Tutorial - Lemon Stamped Paper Runner

Lemon stamped table rubber

I've made stamps from potatoes and apples but I never thought about using lemons, until visiting with a friend. Her toddler was happily stamping away, the smaller lemon easier for her small hands to hold.

What a genius ideas! Of course, I couldn't wait to run home and try it myself to create a fun lemon stamped paper runner for a fun Fruity Flamingo party shoot that debuts Friday.

Lemon stamped table rubber; lemons

What You'll Need:

citrus fruit like lemon or lime; mix up stamp size with an orange or dare I say, grapefruit
acrylic paint
paint brush - I used a foam brush
heavy kraft paper like butcher paper or mailing paper

Lemon stamped table rubber; stamping

1.  Be sure and blot the fruit on a paper towel a couple of times before brushing on the paint; the fruit is pretty juicy and you don't want the liquid mixing with your paint and seeping through the paper.

2.  You don't need to brush on a lot of paint...and brush towards the center of the wedge.  The pulp starts to separate when you brush over it, so this will minimize little pieces of it ending up where you stamp.  You can always carefully pick the pieces out before the paint dries on your paper.

3.  Use a practice piece of paper to test out your stamping technique before you start working on your runner.

4. Once your technique is how you want, stamp your runner to your heart's content.

Come back for this week's Fiesta Friday and check out the party this runner is for!

Fiesta Friday/Real Party - Emoji Graduation Party

This is a post for Oriental Trading as part of their Blogger Community. This review is based strictly on my opinion. Others may have a different opinion or experience with the products listed. I was provided the product free of charge and I provided my honest opinion. No other type of compensation was received for this review.

We hit a milestone...the little one graduated from 5th grade and his brother from 8th grade. I wanted to do a party to celebrate and get friends together before everyone fled for the summer. But theme do you choose for a 10 and 13 year old that isn't carnival or beach?

Emoji Graduation Party

Of course, emoji! Remember my inspiration board? I really needed to stretch the party muscle...not a lot of emoji products out there, but it's growing!

We held our party at a local hotel, so I wanted easy to transport food that would hold up for a few hours without refrigeration.  What's easier than creating a sweets bar?

Emoji Graduation Party dessert table

I decided to focus on the color yellow,  generic emojis like hearts and rainbows, and smiley face products.  My first stop, Oriental Trading.  They have lots of smiley face products and themed products to choose from!

Makers + Shakers - Meet Kori Clark Design

A couple of years ago, over on Seattle Mamas, I started a series interviewing local powerhouses who started with an idea and turned it into a crazy reality.

It was so popular, I thought to myself, 'hey self, you should do the same thing, except this time, you should stalk some more of  your favorite bloggers from all over'. So, I created the Makers + Shakers Series: 8 Creatives You Should Follow.

The series was so popular, I decided to continue it with 8 more creatives!

This week, we are meeting Kori Clark, of Kori Clark Design, an illustrator and watercolorist, who specializes in custom graphic sets, watercolor portraits, graphics for brands, designers, and stylists.

I've known her since she was the blog Paper & Pigtails and sharing printable party designs. Her work has been featured everywhere from DIY Network to Martha Stewart Weddings.  Since then, she has become so much more.

Read on and find out what makes Kori creatively tick...

Please tell our readers a little bit about who Kori is.
Okay! Well, I am a Southern Girl, Wife, Mother, Illustrator, Designer & Watercolorist. I love animals and the country. My goal is to create both art and a life that is filled with joy!

Kori Clark Design watercolor gift tag

We go waaayyyy back...but tell all my readers how KoriClark.com began!
Haha! Yes! We sure do! Crazy how long we have been on this road now! I actually have a degree in graphic design, but studied drawing and painting growing up. After college I worked as a graphic designer and when I had my daughter, I decided to try my hand at freelance.

It evolved over time and I began doing more illustrations and watercolor graphics, in combination with my graphics. KoriClark.com is place I can share my work, some of the brand projects I work on, and my Pup Products!
