The Party Hop: Summer Fiesta Fringe Party Cup/Salsa Party Favor/Piñata Placesetting

The Party Hop: Summer Fiesta

We'll be having fun and partying fiesta DIY all week as part of Sara of Confetti Sunshine's Summer Fiesta Party Hop. She brought a group of creative party-loving bloggers to collaborate together and make one fabulous party full of DIY and inspirational party goodness! Last year, I was thrilled to be part of her A Handmade Holiday Party Hop with my ornament drink bottles.

This time around, we are channeling sandy beaches, fruity drinks and crystal clear water of some fabulous sunny locale I wish I were at right now.  We are going to get you ready for Cinco De Mayo, tropical themed graduation parties, summer bashes, or just-because-I-need-to-play-with-fringe.

Day 1 was my taco invite, a balloon bar and papel picado, yesterday was balloon flags, succulent centerpieces and fringe drink stirrers and today, the party is happening over at...

The Party Hop: Summer Fiesta DIY Taco Invitation

Today I'm sharing my contribution, DIY taco invitations! Because, every great party starts with an awesome invite.

I have always loved Paper Source's hamburger invite and thought to myself, 'Self, you could do the same thing with a taco'.  And I did...I went to my local Paper Source and picked up some of their yummy paper...

Earth Day Party Inspiration

I wanted to get in one more Earth Day post (see my succulent planter DIY) since all next week is devoted to The Party Hop. Earth Day is next Tuesday and communities everywhere will be taking action to protect the planet we call home. Every day should be Earth Day and taking steps to do a little reducing, reusing and recycling should be part of all our lives. If you are looking for clever ways to celebrate and bring awareness, here are a few of my favorite ideas.

Cinco de Mayo DIY pinata lanterns

The one party I have never hosted is a Cinco De Mayo party; with traditional Mexican dishes, free-flowing margaritas, and festive decorations, you would think I would host one every year.  With next week devoted to Summer Fiesta Party Hop, it is high time I did a fiesta of my own.  Today is a sneak peek at two of the projects I did for tomorrow's Fiesta Friday, a Cinco De Mayo Party.

Tuesday Tip - Strawberry White Chocolate Trifles With Lucky Leaf + FTD Discount

Strawberry White Chocolate Trifles with Lucky Leaf

Spring is in full bloom and with Easter right around the corner, I'm sharing a great recipe from Lucky Leaf that is perfect for spring entertaining, Strawberry White Chocolate Trifles.  The best part, it is no bake, and you can literally whip this up in no time flat.

WHITE CHOCOLATE MOUSSE INGREDIENTS
2 cups heavy whipping cream
4 tablespoons sugar
1 8-ounce package cream cheese, softened
6 ounces white baking chocolate, melted

TRIFLE INGREDIENTS
2 21-ounce cans LUCKY LEAF® Premium Strawberry Pie Filling
25 sugar cookies, broken
1 batch white chocolate mousse*
1 8-ounce tub whipped topping

*To make mousse, whip cream in a bowl until it thickens. Gradually add sugar, beating until stiff peaks form. Set aside. In another bowl, beat cream cheese until fluffy. Add chocolate and beat until smooth. Fold in whipped cream mixture.

Assemble trifle by layering pie filling, broken sugar cookies, white chocolate mousse, and whipped topping in a trifle bowl. Top with dollops of whipped cream. Refrigerate until ready to serve.

Since I used small vessels, I only made one layer of each and didn't top off with whipped cream.  But it was just as good...it reminded us of a strawberry cheesecake pie.  Hubby dumped his out over ice cream and turned it into a topper...he would.

FTD $10 sitewide discount

Do you like my gerbera daisies? They are one of my favorite flowers; this arrangement is Colorful World Gerbera Daisies from the lovely folks at FTD.

They want to bring some color to your home this season with a special $10 discount sitewide for all of my readers.  Click through here and you'll see the discount is applied.  The discount also works for their specialty shops so you can order up some sweets for Easter or plan ahead for Mother's Day!

Tuesday Tutorial (On A Monday) - Earth Day Succulent Planters

Earth Day DIY succulent planters

Earth Day is next Tuesday, April 22 and since I am squeezing in one more Easter recipe for tomorrow's Tuesday Tip, I'm sharing today for Tuesday Tutorial.

I have no green thumb. If you can't move and tell me you need help, you are in serious trouble. I'm not ashamed to say I have no plants in my house and I've been threatening to create a garden for the past 10 years. But to celebrate Earth Day, if you are like me, put your fears aside because making a succulent planter is the easiest, least-intimidating project ever.
